Ultra-low maintenance Are you worried about upkeep and maintenance? Worry no more, as our boards require minimal effort to keep them looking their best. This gives you the extra time to unwind and relax without worrying about upkeep. Unlike traditional wood boards, composite boards are resistant to rot, insects, and fading—plus, there is no need for painting, staining, or sealing! Cost-effective Our robustly engineered boards are designed to withstand the toughest weather conditions. With reduced ongoing maintenance expenses, composite decking has a lower lifetime cost than wood. Family-friendly The non-slip, anti-rot, and anti-splinter nature of composite decking offers a safe solution for the whole family. The design and composition of the board provide excellent traction underfoot, even when wet, reducing the risk of slips and falls.
Simply, it is an HDPE out layer surrounding the core material. It is designed to enhance the performance of BAMMAX products, such as fire resistance, waterproofness, and anti-scratch. Indeed, BAMMAX co-extrusion products perform better than classic ones in all fields.
The difference between capped and uncapped composite boards tends to be price and protection. Capped composite boards have an exterior coating that makes them extra resistant to staining and fading. These boards are also easy to wipe clean and maintain color when exposed to outdoor elements. Uncapped composite boards tend to be a little cheaper, but they do not come with the same protection against color fading and staining. This means that they may fade a small amount in the first few months of use. Hollow vs solid Composite decking boards come in both hollow and solid varieties. Hollow boards have chambers that run the length of the board, while solid boards are one complete chunk. The advantages of having a hollow board are that they offer superb strength and are more affordable. Hollow boards also do not warp like solid boards can and are also not as heavy.
Composite decking, or wood polymer composite (WPC) decking, is constructed using a mixture of wood fibers, plastics, and a small amount of bonding agents to bond the materials together. During the creation and manufacture of our products, we ensure that the materials used in our composite boards are environmentally sustainable. The plastics used in the process are fully recycled, and the wood content is recycled and PEFC-certified. The board lengths are created when the wood fibers, plastics, and bonding agents are mixed together, heated, and shaped. This mix of materials allows for the creation of wood composite decking that requires less maintenance than traditional timber boards and looks more lifelike than plastic alternatives—the best of both worlds!
Composite decking does fade over time—but not much. It undergoes an initial weathering process that precedes the color stabilizing. This is due to natural UV exposure and the washing out of natural wood oils (tannins). Top Tip: If you are worried about color fade, the slight fade is less noticeable on lighter color boards! Tests on composite decking have shown that colors can lighten by around 15%, with the main change being seen in the wood grain elements of the board. This is less noticeable on ridged decking board finishes than on authentic wood designs.
Good habits to get into A couple of good practice habits should form the base of any composite deck cleaning process. When it comes time to clean your decking, remove your furniture and ensure it is ready for a good sweep across. While doing this, if you notice any gaps between the decking boards are full of leaves, dirt, or debris, make sure to remove these, too, as the blocked gaps could lead to standing water and other issues. When you come around to clean the decking maintenance, make sure you use a soft-bristled brush when scrubbing, and make sure that you brush in the direction of the woodgrain of the boards for the best results. Always ensure you rinse with clean water, work in sections, and make friends with the garden hose - it can come in handy.
The first thing to be avoided when cleaning your composite decking is harsh chemicals (such as bleach or acids). These chemicals should be avoided as they can eat away at the composite structure, potentially leaving permanent discoloration and damage on the board. If your decking looks dirty and you plan to use a pressure washer to help, be careful not to overdo it with the pressure. We recommend you clean the machine with a wide nozzle setting and a PSI of no more than 1500. To prevent any damage to the surface of the boards, the nozzle of the pressure washer should be kept more than six inches away from the surface at all times, and you should avoid holding the pressure in one particular spot for more than three seconds at a time.
Great news! You won’t need special chemicals or equipment to clean your composite decking, fencing, or cladding. The main thing you’ll need is a bucket of soapy water and a soft-bristled brush, or, if it’s been a long time since the deck has had a clean - a pressure washer with a wide nozzle setting so that there’s not too much pressure on the boards.
